The whole business of a handyman, not just the estimate. Price a job line by line off your own rate card — each task with its material and its hours, at your labor rate and markup — then print the estimate, mark it accepted, print a contract when the job warrants one, and print a work order for the van without the prices on it. Take a deposit when the job is accepted, and the invoice shows what has actually been paid. Choose MY SERVICES once and the screens show only the work you offer. Drywall repair is priced the way you price it: patches by size, from nail pops to 24 inches, bigger holes and water damage by the square foot, ceilings extra; for hang and finish the DRYWALL helper works out the sheets, mud, tape, screws and corner bead from your materials, then adds texture matching, primer and paint, and the return visits while it dries. Six more task helpers work the same way — PAINTING (rooms, ceilings, doors and trim, gallons of paint), FLOORING (plank and laminate, boxes, tear-out and trim), TILE (backsplash, floor and shower, thinset, grout and backer board), FENCE (posts, rails, pickets, concrete and gates), DECK (repairs and refinishing, stain by the gallon) and EXTERIOR CLEANING (house washing, driveways and gutters): measure the job and each writes its own lines at your prices. Then print a one-page services handout for your customers, with your name and the services you offer. A service call or a repair opens with your trip charge already on it, and your minimum is applied when it is saved; extra work outside the contract is billed on its own. Regular customers go on a plan — a landlord's quarterly walk-through, the gutters every autumn — and the visits come due on their own, are marked done or skipped, and are billed together in one invoice. Materials come from your own list, which starts with common handyman and drywall items at starting costs you replace with your own; buy them on a purchase order and receive them against it. Your crew clock in and out against the job, and bid against actual sets each job's clocked hours beside the hours it was priced at, at the same labor rate, by job, by site and by department. Estimate, then job, then invoice: the invoice comes off the job, a payment taken is booked and deposited to your bank account, statements are made ready to email, and who owes what shows every open invoice by age until it clears. The check register, where the money goes and a proforma tax report read the same books. Customers, houses, suppliers and materials live in one record file, with mailing labels, notes, scheduling and your own public website beside them.
